This album is a result of the longest home recording session I've ever spent on a set of songs.

Like most of my recordings, these are songs of love, obsession, despair, and a violent overcoming.

After finalizing the recordings, I spent weeks listening back to them to make sure that the end product was as close to what I heard in my head as possible. I was very pleased with myself.

But then, as I often do, I began to second guess myself. Were the acoustic guitars loud enough in the mix? Is there enough kick drum? Was that "out of key" or just suiting the emotion of the song?

But then I thought of early recordings by some of my favorite artists: Joy Division, The Mountain Goats, Archers of Loaf, and many more. There were often flaws to these early recordings, but the flaws made them more special to me, more unique. They weren't perfect recordings, but they were perfect for that artist for that point in time. While I would never put myself in the league of those artists, it was an idea that had power in my mind. It may not be perfect, but it's perfect for where I am now, musically.

In the end, I decided to stand by what I had done. There are flaws, for sure. But overall, these are well written songs, played and sung with the passion I felt for them. I hope you can look past whatever issues there are (both real and imagined) and enjoy these songs as much as I enjoyed making them.
